This family is very close to my heart since not only are they our best friends, but the youngest daughter also happens to be our god daughter. Since they moved to Maryland we don’t get to see each other as much as we’d like, but what better to do when we meet up than have a quick family session? It’s starting to get colder out now that winter is here, but in between pictures we wrapped the kids in blankets. It was crazy, but also lots of fun. We even took some pictures of the girls in front of my Christmas tree, which is funny because it can almost pass as a prop. 🙂

I got to work with this lovely couple for their maternity session, so imagine my delight to meet their brand new baby girl. She is just gorgeous and was the perfect little model during our shoot. She’s a natural already. 🙂 Newborn sessions are so special and I’m always so happy to be able to be able to photograph them.

Nothing is more fun than meeting a new family! I was so lucky with this session because the location was just stunning. Even though fall had started inching it’s way towards winters door, we braved the chilly weather and had a great shoot. Lots of colors still came through and this beautiful and photogenic family made my job easy!

The light was so pretty I had to play with some flare. 🙂

Yes, I said it. I’m practicing for Holiday portraits in November. And yes, I realize it’s not even Thanksgiving yet. But the lights in the background have been a favorite of clients in previous years, and this year I wanted to try something a little different. So I quickly dressed my daughter, hung up colored lights, and played around. We’ve done white lights in the past, but never colored. When I found a strand of colored lights I decided we would give it a shot.

The colored lights are really fun! I might even like them more than the white lights!

And now I’m ready for holiday sessions with lights. 🙂

One of the hardest things most photographers deal with is actually getting a full family picture that includes YOU (you know, the actual photographer?). This fall we went to a pumpkin patch with my parents and I was determined to get an updated fall image. In order to do this I have to hand over my camera to my mom and hope for the best. After making all the setting adjustments, and positioning my family, I slowly handed the camera over to my mom. First thing she asks me? “Where do I look, and what button do I push?” OK, so maybe that was two things.

Oh boy.

I explained it (again), ran over to my family and told her to start snapping. She must have taken 25 pictures. She even kept snapping when I got up to go over to her and take my camera back (I have serious camera anxiety when someone else is holding it -all I saw was her dropping it). Talk about snap happy. BUT, she captured a nice image and that was all I could hope for.

Then it was just time for fun at the pumpkin patch!

Nothing is more fun that a maternity session. Beautiful pregnant woman with lovely bellies and that certain glow. This couple is getting ready to celebrate the birth of their first child, which brought an extra little bit of love and excitement to the session. Kim came with lots of ideas for fun things she wanted, so we incorporated her ideas into the session.

I had the great honor of photographing four cousins together to give as a gift to their grandmother. Four children under 3yrs old bring many challenges, but being outside where we could run around was helpful. As was having lots of patience and the ability to act silly and be quick! We had a great session!

So this fun session happened over the summer when we were still having hot days and wearing bright colors. Who doesn’t love summer? This was a super fun summer session. The colors, the location, and the beautiful family. What more could I ask for? Sometimes photographing 3 kids can be difficult (you know, trying to get all of them to look at you AND smile at the same time?) but these kids were a dream! Even the baby! The whole family is so photogenic the hardest part for me was choosing which pictures were the best. 🙂

And as a bonus, I got to photograph baby Emma for her 1yr cake smash!

It’s been a while! I’m still getting used to having this whole ‘having-a-blog-and-keeping-it-updated’ thing, so please forgive my inactivity!
I have a bunch of updates to post from past sessions as well as a revamping of my blog in general! If we have had a session in the past few months stay tuned because you will find yours pictures being blogged!

One of my best friends from high school is pregnant with her second child (who also happens to be my new godson!) and is due in a few weeks. I’ve been bugging her to let me take maternity pictures of her for a while now, but she has managed to evade me. Well she had her sprinkle this past weekend, and I refused to allow her to elude these photographs any longer. Yes it was cold, yes it was rainy, and yes, it was a little windier than I would have preferred, but I dragged her out anyway. 🙂

I even went so far as to force her mom and sister (who is also pregnant!) to come out in to the cold and rain for some pictures! I have no shame. 🙂

And a pretty cool shot for any mom to have of herself with both her pregnant daughters.
